Sylvia’s End of season 2-odds winners

Club football returns this weekend, and so does Sylvia’s 100 odds boom, to the relief of most football fans. I’ll particularly be surprised to find a Super Eagles fan that’s not relieved to get away from this break after what the team has been putting out recently. Phew.

It’s back to club loyalties, with big fixtures coming up from the Premier League  to Serie A and all the leagues in between.

This weekend, I’ll make my selections with lesser risk in mind, meaning, less odds than usual. Let’s get into it and may the odds be in our favour!

Leicester City v Chelsea

Sylvia’s 100 odds boom begins here.

This early kick off could mean a drab slow game especially for Chelsea who will have most of their key players who must have travelled for miles to and fro their commitments with their national teams.

To make matters more difficult for the Blues, they finally ended their winning run and conceded a goal after hours in the very last game before the international break. It’ll be interesting to see how they recover from that with the same squad and an eye on the midweek champions league game against Juventus.

Leicester on the other hand have enjoyed better rest, coupled with home comforts, they’ll be rearing to go.

One of the problems the Foxes who have had an underwhelming performance thus far have had this season, however, is that they conceded way too many goals. More than they have in fact scored. Chelsea is lethal to even without Lukaku. But tired legs could be their undoing. I honestly won’t be surprised is Leicester win this one.

But to be safe, I’ll stake on goals to be scored.

Tip: GG or O2.5 @ 1.50 odds

Lazio v Juventus

Recently, Juventus defender Chielini said that Serie A has a lot of substandard teams and in fact he league should have only 16 teams that can be competitive. In the first few weeks of the season, they were in the lowly four spots of the table. Thanks to the return of Allegri, they’ve managed to claw their way back to near the top and are now in eighth place. Lazio are fifth. They have both had a mixed run of games recently.

This game should pose as a timely test for the Old Lady to announce their seriousness for a challenge for European spots. I strongly feel they’ll succeed on Saturday although it’ll be a contest.

Tip: x2 @ 1.39 odds

Liverpool v Arsenal

The last time I had Liverpool amongst my selections, they won me 4odds. It was the 3-2 loss to West Ham. I fancied there would be lots of goals and I couldn’t trust them to beat the Hammers.

This weekend, they’ll end facing another London side but this time on home turf. The Reds seem to be in a race against time as they try to accumulate as much points and goals as possible before the lose their key asset in Mohammed Salah to AFCON in December.

The hosts will be missing lots of key players but that won’t be Mikel Arteta’s problem to care about as his side look to continue on the right part to redemption. Somehow they have managed to shut up critics and have climbed their way to just two points behind Liverpool who have been showered with so much praise and are considered to be in the race for the title. Impressive.

Now how did they do it? They have built their success on a solid defense. Arsenal have conceded 13 goals in 11 games but have also scored just 13! They haven’t conceded in their last three games but scored five in that time and haven’t lost since the 5-0 against Manchester City, 11 games ago.

Liverpool are the Santa of goals and highest goal scorers. They keep on giving to Sylvia’s 100 odds boom.

Arsenal’s defence isn’t that fantastic and inability to score will come back to bite them in this one.

Wolves v West Ham

West Ham proved their pedigree against Liverpool. And I’ll be tipping them to go again and win it against an also performing Wolves side.

West Ham are the league’s third highest goal scorers, behind Chelsea and Liverpool. That’s wild. But they also love to concede. However, once again I’m reminded that I’m playing it safe this weekend so…here goes.

Tip: GG @ 1.74 odds

Borussia Dortmund v VFB Stuttgart

Dortmund is that team that you’ll like to have in your ticket every other week. This season they are performing just fine. And against a Stuttgart side just above relegation places, this looks like a guaranteed victory for the hosts.

Head-to-head stats is heavily tilted in favour of the hosts 12-5-2. Dortmund have scored 11 times in the last three ties between them.

Sounds like we should expect a one way traffic. I’m going a little less safe here but nothing risky.

Tip: Highest scoring half – second half @ 1.86 odds

PSV Eindhoven v Vitesse

It’s second versus fifth and five points keeps them apart.

The visitors have done well so far this season to stay close to European sports and they’ve earned it. PSV on the other hand even though tied on points with leaders Ajax, have had mixed results recently, winning just two of their last five and losing same amount.

Head to head stats in heavily in favour of PSV.

Tip: GG @ 1.71 odds

Lyon v Marsielle

Tough game to expect. It’s fourth versus seventh and although four points separate them, they are historically big teams with a lot to play for. It won’t be an easy game for each side and in fact, I expect a narrow victory but both teams to find the back of the net. They’ve scored 21 and 20 goals respectively but Lyon have shipped in a ton load as well – 21.

Tip: GG @ 1.51 odds

Brest v Lens

Surprise of the season Lens are second in the league while hosts, Brest are 17th.

As for Lens, this didn’t happen over night. They had a good 2020/21 season which means they have character and back bone to be heat. They added goals to their game this season and are the second highest scorers in the league with 25 goals and have conceded 14 after 13 games. Not shabby at all. I fancy them to be just efficient enough to win this one…but in the spirit of playing safe…

Tip: x2 @ 1.36 odds

Feyenoord v FC Zwolle

Its third versus bottom of the table.

The hosts are hot on the heals of table topping PSV and Ajax by just two points. It’s a close race. And any point dropped will be costly. This is the last point they should be dropping.

Tired legs from the international break means the players may wear out quickly.

Normally, it’ll be expected that they’ll be winning their games with a high margin but that hasn’t been the case in recent times. Their last four games which they all won have been won by a single goal margin…yet I expect them to fix that “abnormally” this weekend.

Tip: Highest scoring half – second @ 1.87 odds for Sylvia’s 100 odds boom

Atletico MG v Juventude

Once again, Diego Costa is racing to the title with another team.

The former Chelsea man seems to have found his form again and is having fun in Brazil.

Atletico’s closest challengers, Flamengo  are eight points behind them.

This would be the fourth meeting between them. There can be surprises in Brazilian Serie A but home comfort and their current momentum is why I’ll bank of Costa and his teammates.
