Let’s play along!

BK HACKEN  VS  BROMMAPOJKARNA

Reigning champions Hacken will be looking to boost their hopes of defending their title when they face Brommapojkarna in the Swedish Allsvenskan on Saturday.

Hacken claimed their first Allsvenskan championship last season and they are in the mix to defend their title thanks largely to a potent attack that has scored 38 times in 15 league games this term – the most of any side in the division.

That attacking quality was further showcased during the first leg of their Champions League first qualifying round tie on Wednesday night when they beat The New Saints 3-1 – a result that extended their unbeaten run in competitive matches to six games, five of which have ended in victory.

However, Hacken did concede against their Welsh opponents meaning they are without a clean sheet in four of those six matches.

Brommapojkarna will head into this game looking to avoid a fourth-successive Allsvenskan defeat, but that won’t be easy considering their last league visit to Hacken ended in a 6-0 drubbing.

The visitors have at least scored in two of their three defeats over recent weeks and they will fancy their chances of getting on the scoresheet against Hacken’s less than watertight backline.

That could be as good as it gets though for Olof Mellberg’s team and Hacken should win this one.

This is unlikely to be anything other than a home win for Hacken at 1.23 odds on BestBet360.

ELFSBORG VS  GOTEBORG

This clash pits first against 15th, with IFK Goteborg sat second-bottom in the Swedish Allsvenskan going into this weekend. The visitors have picked up only eight points from their first 14 games this term and they make this trip having lost four of their last five games.

The visitors have the league’s joint-worst away record and no side has secured fewer points across the last eight games. Elfsborg lead both the form table and the league table and they look to be getting stronger by the week, which is ominous for the strugglers.

Elfsborg had a rocky start with just a point and no goals scored across their first two games, but since they kicked into gear they haven’t looked back. The hosts have won 11 of their last 12 league games and they have scored 2.7 goals per home game.

Elfsborg boast the league’s best defensive record and they meet a Goteborg side who have scored just three times across their seven trips to date. The visitors look set to be outclassed and Elfsborg head into this one as odds-on-favourites.

The hosts have won by at least two goals in each of their home victories so far this term and Goteborg have already lost 4-1 at third-placed Hacken this season.

Elfsbrog to secure a routine home win comes at 1.31 odds on BestBet360.

VISSEL KOBE  VS SAGAN TOSU

Vissel Kobe will be looking to continue their push for top spot in the Japanese J1 League when they take on Sagan Tosu at Noevir Stadium Kobe on Sunday evening.

The hosts are in second place, having taken 40 points from their opening 19 games, while the visitors are firmly rooted in mid-table, currently sitting in eighth.

Vissel Kobe have taken huge strides this season, having finished in 13th place in the previous campaign, and they have a fantastic recent record against Sunday’s opponents, which should give them confidence heading into the match.

Ushi have won each of the last four matches between the two sides without conceding a goal, winning the reverse fixture at the Ekimae Real Estate Stadium 1-0 earlier this season.

As such, Sagan Tosu face a very tough test this weekend, but their recent form has been promising, having collected 10 points from their last five games, the joint-third highest total of any side in the division.

Inconsistency has been a real issue for Sagan, having failed to win consecutive J1 league games all season, but they are on an upward trend at the moment, winning two of their last three games, including a 6-0 thrashing of Shonan Bellmare in their last away trip.

As things stand, Kenta Kawai’s side are 10 points behind third-placed Nagoya, with just under half of the season left to play, meaning they could still make a push for the AFC Champions League qualification places, but they would have to go on a very good run of form.

Although Sagan Tosu have improved recently, they succumbed to a 4-3 defeat against Roasso Kumamoto after extra time in their last match, having conceded a 90th-minute equaliser, exiting the Emperor’s Cup at the round of 16 stage.

Vissel Kobe have been fantastic so far this season, particularly defensively, having conceded the fewest goals of any team in the division. As such, it is  expected that the hosts will emerge as narrow winners, keeping the pressure on top-of-the-table Yokohama F Marinos.

Vissel Kobe to win at 1.53 odds on BestBet360 comes handy.

LILLESTROM  vs SANDEFJORD

Lillestrom will be aiming to quickly bounce back from the departure of their former head coach Geir Bakke when they host Sandejford on Sunday.

The visitors, meanwhile, must avoid defeat at worst if they are to have any chance of moving outside of the relegation zone this weekend.

Having finished fourth for two seasons running since bouncing back from Norway’s second tier at the first attempt in 2020, Lillestrom will be hoping to make their games in hand count by moving up the table across the coming weeks.

However, Bakke – who had been in charge during the club’s promotion campaign, as well as their recent strong seasons in the Eliteserien – surprisingly left for Valerenga Futbol earlier this week, leaving Simon Mesfin and former Liverpool defender Frode Kippe to share interim duties.

Lillestrom had returned to winning ways in dramatic fashion in Bakke’s last match in charge, with Akor Adams equalising against Rosenborg in the 85th minute, before the forward snatched all three points in the second minute of injury-time.

Sandejford, meanwhile, are aiming to avoid relegation once again after overcoming Kongsvinger 5-2 on aggregate in last season’s relegation play-offs.

Having lost five of their previous six matches prior to hosting Stabaek last time out, Tegstrom and Odegaard Senior may have been content with seeing their side play out a goalless draw, and they would likely settle for a similar result on Sunday.

Sandejford will likely be aiming to keep things tight once again after their goalless draw last time out, with avoiding defeat likely to be their main target from this match.

However, while Lillestrom face uncertainty off the pitch, they should be full of confidence after coming from behind to beat Rosenborg last time out, and we can envisage them claiming another tight victory.

Backing Lillestrom to secure a comfortable home win at 1.29 odds on BestBet360.
