BoomBankers 14-odds Home ACCA

The Boom Banker’s 20 odds Home Wins picks for last weekend was only binned by Olympique Marseille who were held to a heartbreaking goalless draw at home by Toulouse. On the back of the painful Cut-1, the Boom Banker returns this weekend with a sweet 24 odds Home Wins ACCA.

Let’s play along!

MILAN VS VERONA

Striding out at San Siro for the third time in eight days, AC Milan seek their first win since the international break when they resume Serie A duty at home to Hellas Verona on Saturday.

After last week’s thumping in the Derby della Madonnina was followed by a midweek stalemate in the Champions League, Milan meet a Verona side that has been beaten just once so far this season.

After conceding five times to their city rivals for the first time since 1974, the Rossoneri – whose only goal of the game came from Rafael Leao – improved significantly to shut out the Magpies in midweek, but they will now target a morale-boosting victory over Verona.

History suggests that could be on the cards this weekend: while the ‘Fatale Verona’ legend has been applied to two of the club’s famous failures at Stadio Bentegodi, Milan remain unbeaten in Serie A home matches against the Scaligeri.

In addition to winning 18 times and playing out 13 draws down the years, they have also won each of their last five league games versus Verona, scoring at least twice on each occasion.

Sitting only two points shy of Milan in the early Serie A standings, Verona may even fancy their chances of ending their decades-long drought against Milan at San Siro – particularly if the hosts’ rhythm has been interrupted by recent events.

With precedent firmly on their side, Milan can bounce back from a tough week to post their fourth win from five Serie A matches this season. Verona may have overachieved in the early days of the 2023-24 campaign, but their limitations remain more or less the same as last year – and they have never before beaten Milan in a top-flight match at San Siro.

This is unlikely to be anything other than a home win for Milan at 1.42 odds on BestBet360.

BARCELONA VS CELTA VIGO

Barcelona will be aiming to post a sixth straight win in all competitions when they continue their La Liga campaign at home to Celta Vigo on Saturday evening.

Xavi’s side have picked up 13 points from their first five games of the new league season to sit second in the table, two points behind leaders Real Madrid, while Celta occupy 16th, collecting four points from their opening five matches during an underwhelming start.

Barcelona’s goalless draw with Getafe on the opening weekend of the new La Liga season was underwhelming to say the least, but the Catalan outfit have not missed a step since, winning their last five matches in all competitions.

Xavi’s team have overcome Cadiz, Villarreal, Osasuna and Real Betis in their last four in the league to move onto 13 points, which as mentioned, is currently enough for second spot in the table behind Real Madrid.

Barcelona thumped Real Betis 5-0 in La Liga last time out and were winners by the same scoreline in the Champions League on Tuesday, with Belgian outfit Royal Antwerp swept aside at Camp Nou.

Celta have found it difficult to get going this season, only picking up four points from their opening five matches, which has left them down in 16th position in the table.

Barcelona are absolutely flying at the moment, and it is really difficult to imagine them failing to collect another three points here. Celta are capable of making it an uncomfortable match, but Xavi’s side should be too strong for their opponents in Saturday’s encounter.

Barcelona to win at 1.38 odds on BestBet360 comes handy.

BRENTFORD VS EVERTON

Both still reeling from 1-0 defeats last weekend, Brentford and Everton seek to get back on track in Saturday’s Premier League encounter at the Gtech Community Stadium.

The Bees were bested by Newcastle United in their most recent affair, while Sean Dyche’s tepid side were deservedly beaten by Arsenal on their own patch.

A seven-game unbeaten run in the Premier League was snapped at St James’ Park last weekend, as Brentford lost for the first time in the top flight since May owing to a Callum Wilson penalty, which also brought a halt to Newcastle’s miserable losing streak.

Despite going unbeaten in their opening four games of the new term, home draws with Bournemouth and Crystal Palace were nothing to write home about for Thomas Frank’s side, who have already played out three stalemates this term – the joint-most in the league alongside the Cherries.

As such, the Bees are entrenched in mid-table obscurity in 11th place at this embryonic stage, and Frank’s side still have just the one clean sheet to their name this season from their 3-0 thumping of Fulham, failing to keep the back door closed in each of their last four games.

A daunting EFL Cup fixture with Arsenal also lies in wait for Brentford before the end of the month, but the Gunners are one of only two teams to have beaten Frank’s men at home in the Premier League since the start of last season, and the hosts have scored in 16 successive top-flight games at the Gtech since a goalless draw with Chelsea 11 months ago.

So far this season, goals have been easier to come by for Everton on the road than they have at Goodison Park, and last season’s respectable results against Brentford should also stand the Toffees in good stead.

A pair of defensive injury concerns is not what the doctor ordered for the Bees either, but Frank’s side can normally be relied upon to deliver at the Gtech Community Stadium, and one can only envisage a return to winning ways for the capital club on Saturday.

Backing Brentford to secure a comfortable home win at 1.82 odds on BestBet360.

ATALANTA VS CAGLIARI

Atalanta reconvene for domestic matters with a home encounter against Cagliari in Serie A on Sunday after returning to the European stage in midweek.

La Dea beat Polish champions Rakow Czestochowa here at the Gewiss Stadium on Thursday in their first European outing in almost 18 months.

That success in Europe has continued a run of form in the early stages of the season which have seen Atalanta alternate between wins and losses.

Form which currently reads as win, loss, win, loss, win is an ominous sign, though, should that carry on here.

At home though, Atalanta are yet to be breached, winning 2-0 on Thursday against Rakow, as well as 3-0 against Monza in their only other match at the Gewiss Stadium so far this season.

Despite losing two of their first four Serie A games, Atalanta are still within touching distance of the top four, currently sitting just two points off the Champions League places.

A fine home record should give Gasperini’s men confidence too, as La Dea have won six of their last seven here – scoring 19.

Cagliari have not been welcome opponents to the Gewiss of late though, considering the Sardinians have won on four of their last visits to Bergamo.

If they can maintain that fine record over Atalanta, then it would provide Claudio Ranieri’s side with their first win of the campaign.

Currently down in 18th, Cagliari have just two points so far, both of which came in 0-0 draws.

Even though Atalanta have been bouncing between winning and losing, they should make it back-to-back wins for the first time this season against relegation-candidates Cagliari.

Despite a fine recent record here at the Gewiss Stadium, Cagliari look likely to struggle all season, especially with no obvious goal threat, so another blank could be on the cards too.

Atalanta to secure a routine home win comes at 1.39 odds on BestBet360.

BRIGHTON VS BOURNEMOUTH

Having been subjected to a rude awakening in the Europa League, Brighton & Hove Albion seek to get back on track in the Premier League when they welcome Bournemouth to the Amex Stadium on Sunday.

The Seagulls were beaten 3-2 by AEK Athens in their inaugural continental match on Thursday, while the Cherries most recently held Chelsea to a goalless draw in the top flight.

A third Premier League win on the bounce would be the perfect tonic for De Zerbi’s side, who have marched to back-to-back 3-1 triumphs over Newcastle United and Manchester United in their last two top-flight encounters, storming to victory at Old Trafford courtesy of strikes from Danny Welbeck, Pascal Gross and Pedro.

Not even Manchester City or a free-scoring Tottenham Hotspur can match Brighton’s league-high tally of 15 goals so far this term, and De Zerbi’s men occupy fifth place in the rankings owing to their impressive start, but defensive concerns are apparent.

Indeed, the Seagulls are still without a clean sheet in all competitions this season and have now gone 10 games without a shut-out since their 3-0 win over Arsenal back in May, but not since February have they been kept at bay down the other end at the Amex.

As 0-0 draws go, Bournemouth’s stalemate with Chelsea was certainly on the more entertaining end of the spectrum, but both defences ultimately won out to leave Andoni Iraola still searching for his first Premier League win as Cherries head coach.

Bournemouth certainly gave a good account of themselves against a side who were crowned European champions only two years ago, and a previous 2-2 draw versus Brentford at the Gtech Community Stadium – where the Bees are seldom outclassed – can also be viewed in a positive light.

Fatigue and fresh concerns over as many as four players will both threaten Brighton’s chances of an immediate return to winning ways, but De Zerbi’s men have a taste for goals in the top flight, especially in front of the Amex crowd.

A front-footed Bournemouth can still trouble the Seagulls’ permeable defence, but Brighton should make up for their shortcomings at the back with scintillating play in attack to prevail.

Brighton to prevail at 1.41 odds on BestBet360.
